Premier Healthcare Receives Award for Medicare Advantage Quality Achievement
Congratulations to Premier Healthcare for receiving the Medicare Advantage
4.5 Star Award from the Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA) for delivering
a high level of quality care for Medicare Advantage beneficiaries in California!
SJHMG also received an award from IHA for showing the most improvement
since last year’s measurements.
The annual award recognizes California physician organizations and health
plans that have earned 4.5 and 5-star ratings for their achievement on
quality improvement. Based on the measurement year 2014, six physician
organizations earned 5-star ratings, 56 achieved 4.5 stars and 28 improved
their overall star rating by at least 1 star. The lists of all award winners
are available online at IHA.org.
IHA’s star-rating system is based on a subset of 13 clinical measures
that Medicare Advantage plans report to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid
Services (CMS) related to clinical quality, member experience and customer
service at the physician organizational level. These range from breast
and colorectal cancer screenings to eye exams and blood sugar control
for patients with diabetes. The clinical quality criteria also include
managing osteoporosis in women with a previous fracture and appropriate
Star ratings are intended to help beneficiaries select higher-quality
health plans and assist participating Medicare Advantage health plans
to identify performance variations and focus on quality-improvement efforts.
